About Ethan

My tutoring style is to help remove roadblocks from a student’s learning by first understanding where the confusion is, figuring out the student’s learning style and strengths, and leveraging those strengths to overcome learning obstacles. I have a great demeanor and teaching style for all ages. I take time to get to know my students to build rapport and trust, which I find is crucial in helping motivate some students to learn. I often use multiple teaching styles by breaking down difficult concepts in several ways so that each student can learn the best way for them. Similarly, I use example problems that illustrate concepts in a simple way.

While at Cornell, I served as a teaching assistant for graduate level engineering courses and received great reviews from students. In my current employment, I served as a mentor for our summer interns, leading a team of five college interns. Over the years, I have served as a middle school and high school STEM private tutor — covering courses in a wide range of levels. Lastly, while in high school, I took nine AP exams, receiving 5’s on eight of them. I am prepared to tutor all levels (kindergarten through college) of math and physics. I can also assist in a majority of subjects outside of STEM.

My personal interest in tutoring is that I love teaching and find tutoring rewarding and enjoyable at the same time — much like my time mentoring interns in my current job as a robotics engineer. I especially enjoy seeing my students succeed.
