About Steve:

Steve has been a tutor with Tutoring For Success for over ten years.   As an outstanding, motivating and confidence building tutor, he has used his knowledge, skills and abilities with a vast variety of students at all levels in math and science.  Through his subject knowledge, tutoring proficiency, and his capability to explain topics in terms that a student can understand, Steve prides himself in his ability to understand a student’s skill level and connect with their concerns through listening, understanding and patience. His goal is to gain a keen sense of where a student is at within a topic and then determine what is required to move forward.  Steve’s goals are to ensure a student understands the “why” behind the solution to a math or science problem and then ensure they are “comfortable” with the subject to the point where they can tackle a problem from scratch on their own.   To accomplish this and to ensure they have mastered a skill set, Steve encourages a lot of hands-on student involvement to practice their newly learned skills.  As a result, he has even tutored both teen-age students of the Tutoring for Success owner in various classroom subjects as well as SAT Math.

Steve’s interest in math and science started at a young age, when he has able to show how well he absorbed and apply elementary math and science skills.  His love of learning continued as he built upon these skills throughout his formal education years to include the mastery of high level Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering courses.  The result was formal degrees in both Civil Engineering and Operations Management.   Furthermore, his engineering background reinforced that a hands-on visual approach to math and science problems that includes diagrams and graphs can be very useful in explaining various situations.  He encourages his students to do the same.
