About Kate

Kate joined Tutoring for Success in the summer of 2024. This is her fourth year working full time as an elementary special education paraprofessional in Fairfax County Public Schools. Her hands-on work experience has taught her many tricks that aid students in learning fresh content and acquiring new skills. As someone who benefitted from being tutored herself in grade school, Kate understands that fostering a safe and caring environment is the first step in building an effective tutor-student relationship. She knows that when students feel comfortable and believed in, they are able to reach their full potential. To Kate, there is no feeling more rewarding than watching a student light up with the realization that yes, they can do it! Kate currently attends GMU as a graduate student and looks forward to becoming an Elementary Special Education teacher upon graduating.

Fun facts about Kate:

“I enjoy spending time with my cat, making sure she gets plenty of exercise and stimulation. My favorite way to unwind is to walk in the woods and observe the beauty of nature. I also regularly practice meditation so that I may incorporate mindfulness in my everyday life.”
