About Kathy

Kathy started working with students in 2006 as an AVID tutor for Fairfax County Public Schools and continued through 2014. In this position, she worked with students in grades 7-12 at many different schools and supported them with any subject questions they brought to class. In 2014, Kathy became a full-time Instructional Assistant (IA) with high school age Special Education students, and she continued in the position through 2022. As an IA, she supported teachers and students in many classes including Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, English 9-12, 9th grade History, Reading, Biology, Geosystems, and Environmental Science. She also worked with students on Executive Functioning skills and organization. In addition, in 2021 Kathy began tutoring privately part-time and has worked with students from 1st through 11th grades on subject tutoring as well as prep for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, HSPT, and ISEE. Kathy believes helping students achieve their goals is about more than just grades. It’s about mentoring and leading them so they gain confidence in their ability to learn and use the skills and information available to solve any problem that comes up.
